So my new album is going to be released in three days\u2014I’m setting a deadline in order to stop myself from tinkering with it. It’s different from anything I’ve released in the past, but change has always been a part of my “musical philosophy” so it’s nothing new, really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this album, I’ve gone a bit overboard in fine-tuning how each track sounds. It has been an experiment in new mastering techniques: creating preliminary recordings that are adjusted to “perfection.” There really is an infinite amount of depth that can go into this sort of thing, but, likewise, I seem to have an infinite amount of patience for micro-adjustments to knobs and sliders. I have newfound appreciation for audio engineers who work on others’ recordings: they obviously want the audio to sound good but also want the other parties involved to be satisfied. Oh, and me? I’m just a smart-ass who make his own music for kicks, not following any rules or guidelines, so it sounds how I want it to sound. Just deal with it (I don’t like bass, ok?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Am I still writing about this frickin’ album? Goddamn, let me change the subject. Hey, peep this: I’m currently working on a mini-album that I’m more excited about than what I’m releasing in three days. It has eight tracks, will probably be around thirty minutes in total length, and I think it’s going to be really special but that’s coming from my own perspective. It’s a very personal mini-thing, indeed: thematically, it deals with my own experience and take on being a person in this world, removed from anyone else’s influence or opinion. It’s going to be simpler than Micro-adjusted to Death<\/em>, and I’m trying out some new production tricks to get a fresh result.
